How to remove A/C??

Hey I was thinking about removing the A/C in my 2.8 liter engine, but I wasn't sure if it was really worth the trouble, and if so how do I remove it, since there is only 1 belt...a lil confused..thanks!

Re: How to remove A/C??

It's stupid easy. You can either buy a delete pulley for about $30, or reroute a smaller belt around the rest of the pulleys. The condenser, compressor, accumulator and such will just unbolt. 40 minute job if you have no idea what you're doing.
Doing a COMPLETE delete will take longer, and require a delete panel for the firewall. Those are about $100 on ebay.

Re: How to remove A/C??

1. Is it broke? If you don't miss it, sure, toss it. It's not hard and does free up room under the hood.
2. Nope. No hp is lost with it, so there is no hp to gain with it removed.

Re: How to remove A/C??

You won't gain any power, but you'll gain get-up-and-go... You'll lose weight in the front of the car getting rid of the A/C garbage. Only thing you need to make sure of if you're going to remove it is whether it's discharged or not because if you crack open one of the fittings and the system is charged, you'll end up freezing off one of your fingers or something. Not to mention that refrigerant isn't very good to breathe in.
