Re: How do I open the radiator drain petcock?

What type do you have?

Plastic wing nut? Plastic bolt head? Brass bolt head? Aluminum?

First try to use your hand if it's a plastic wing nut style, turn counter-clock wise.

If you do use pliers on a plastic wing nut type, grasp the fattest part behind the wing, apply turning pressure evenly-- don't try to twist it like you're taking off lug nuts.

If it's a bolt head type, use the appropriate size box end wrench, again, not twisting like you're taking off lug nuts.

Pre-soak it with PB Blaster or WD40.
