Update.. good results today, very VERY minor little SURGING in last 5 mins - ?

OK, from the time i last posted to now, i been DRIVING THE CAR! The old is doing quite well. The only thing that makes me a little qeirded out is this..

pardonm spelling mistakes, its late, and i drove it more than three hours this time:

The ONLY thing thats a LITTLE weird.. I was running the car all day. Cleaned up nice! :_) id say "three hours roadtime" it saw today, at least. Now, n the very very end.. i noticed some type of minpor surging? Im talking 5 minutes before i turned the car off, if that.. I went to the gas station to fill up on fuel, and BOTH statuions (Hess annd another one) had difficulty putting gas in the tank!! I only needed 4 gallons to fill it up, but one only added one gallon.. the other? Twom after auto-clicking off three or four times Weird. So im now 15 out of 16 gallons full.. anout 15 minuteds after tha,t i noticed inor "Surging" or hesitation. Didnt do that all day!

Could it be the "FPR" Fuel Pressure Regulator, whats up with that!!?!!??!?????? ... otherwise, 95% good today. it stopped "puffing" too ? ? ?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt your carbureted engine with a mechanical fuel pump that pushes less than 10PSI has a fuel pressure regulator... Did you do a tune up yet?

:edit: And I've found that some gas pumps shut off really quick if you're standing there holding the nozzle with the handle high and the nozzle pointed down inside the filler neck... Unless your filler neck is bent, of course.

Well, i got -ONE- spark plug replaced. Yes, ONE. i cant find the "Rubber piece" inside my socket and i am wonderign if i need it? Day is breaking so i can go out and try the other 5

The car DID start up quicker, even from that ONE spark plug!

1) Should i "spray" anything like carb/choke cleaner or Seafoam on /in the wire boots? (I didnt)
2) How do i "Check the resistance" of the plug WIRE? Do i range the Ohm meter on multimeter to ~20, and touck negative to battery ground, then positive to inside wire?
3) I turned it until it stopped spinning, then barly turned it past that. No grease, and i saw the "old grease" come off the plug. Did i do good?
4) The olug i took out (middle of driver side) sdidnt look all that bad. I cant wait to see the other 5.. if it starts that much quicker/easier with just one plug, i can only imagine what the other 5 will do!

Oh, and my starter IS going out. I guess fuel hot makes it hard to fill up, and that was somewhat "normal," eh? Ive just never had TWO pumps auto-shut, thought my fuel pressure was nutty. As to the "two minutes of minor surging," no idea;; it did it, then stopped. Both times, it was after a long ~4 hour day of driving, and when i came into town. Maybe it will never do it again after i change these other 5!!

Im about to go out and look at it again. Again, i DONT KNOW what happened tot the "Round rubber circle" inside my spark plug socket!! .. DO I NEED IT!!?!!??

Will post pics of the nastiest plug. And will resistance check too

Thanks - 84CamaroinFL

The rubber boot inside the socket keeps it from cracking the porcelian part of the spark plug. Yes you need it.

You don't need the rubber part... Just be very careful not to tilt the plug in the socket. I've changed many plugs with a 3/4 deep socket (not a plug socket)... Start each plug by hand to avoid the possibility of damage.
