Half of them aren't tunable. When I rebuilt mine I just cranked the mixture screw in the whole way and backed it out 3 full turns. Been running great and I'm getting 22mpg around town and 31highway.

Also, is it better than this HOLLEY carb for the car ? http://paceperformance.com/i-6108141...-64-70125.html

84 Camaro i got mine on ebay for $31 reman'd. Ok so I haven't changed out the carb yet but this morning driving into work my idol is insane at 1200 at idle. Last night i installed mechanical guages for temp and oil pressure to do that i had to take the breather off do you think i might have got a vaccum hose switched around. Since the idle is self adjusted right.

I initally bought that exact carb but the mixture control selenoid was bad from the factory so i ended up using my old selenoid. Then I went and rebuilt my orinigal carb and have the holly as a spare. Rebuild kits are about $40 + about $4 for carb cleaner and you can have it done in about an hour or two. Knowing what I do now I would've never bought that carb, just rebuilt my old one. I heard these were a pain but this was my first rebuild and it turned out fine so just take your time and you will be allright.

I suspect a "leaking rear bowl" as of yesterday and im tempted to ave at it. But im bot really sure what to do, i DONT know how a carb works, and ive never done this before.
However, i DOD change ALL SIX Spark plugs yesterday, two were kind of hard but i got them......................
I also use my car a lot, and i found a Rochester E2SE for $175. Sounds like too much?
.. Advice? And would you try this, if you were me?
Im ... new to working on my own car. I am......... but i change my oil and spark plugs............. thats about what i know how to do...........

All you need to do is follow the instructions that come with the rebuild kit. When I rebuilt mine it was my first carb too. Basically all you do is take everything apart, clean it good, install new gaskets rubber exc, and put it back exactly how it came apart. Its honestly not that hard and there is only a couple adjustments to be made on this carb but they are easy to test. The $175 carb seems about right, I never saw any for sale besides the reman holley one. If you want to be safe just buy the cheap carb put it on your car and if it works fine then just rebuild your spare then and either resell it or just keep it as a spare.

between the $400 new Holley one and the $175 reman Rochester one, id love the Holley but i can "get that at any time"
Im taking it to a mechanic monday
i think i have fuel dripping from the engine, i try to ignore it but my apartment complex smells gas so i HAVE to get it fixed

Maybe he can "Adjust up one or two critical parts of the carb that were out of adjustment" im lucky if i see 16MPG, i probably see 13-15MPG actually. And this is AFTER changing spark plugs!!

.. Dumb question: Is "Taking the carb off and putting it back on" even easier than the task of "rebuilding it" ? The mechanic may, i found an honest one. Too many people full of -IT- here in where i live.
I can only think of how much UN-Fuel Diluted my OIL will be and better it will feel, run, and not DRIP GAS
after the mechanic MAYBE checks out my Timing (starter doesnt start smooth all the time, someone keeps talking about "Timing" doing that not the starter) and FIXES the car!!?!? .. thing is, it runs well. Just smells like gas from under the hoo SOMETIMES (!) after its parked. Also, what is "Re-jetting" a carb? Someone speculated i could have a "Cracked rear bowl." if thats the case, id love to BUY (need to figure out how, $175 is two weeks pay now) the carb.. mechanic would likely get it for MORE! Unless a "Bowl" is replaceable?

Im not a carb expert but I highly doubt you cracked a boul, I never head of that happening with these carbs. These carbs are "varajet" meaning that jetting is computer controlled (not 100% on the varajet meaning) but either way these carbs are not able to swap jets so if the mechanic says he "rejettted it" he's full of BS. "Rejetting" is taking out the pieces that push the fuel into the air with larger or smaller ones to make the mixture better for whatever the engine requires, its the same principle as larger and smaller fuel injectors. Taking the carb off is easier than rebuilding it, 4 bolts about 5vac. hoses and your fuel supply and its off. I had mine off, on, and rebuilt to adjust things so many times that I got it down to 30min for everything now. Check where the fuel enters the carb on the back of the drivers side and see if its dripping, if it is you might just need to bend a new line and you'd have it fixed. I would check it for leaks before I would take it to a mechanic.
