got a new firebird!!!
i know this going to get locked, and it's not truely tech, but i thought i'd post it anyway. My dad bought me my first model of a firebird, it's a 1982 firebird by MPC, and is on a huge 1/16 scale. It's gonna be awesome, it took forever to find one, and finally one popped up on Ebay, we ended up getting it for 31.00 bucks, good stuff, since no one makes 3rd gens anymore. I can't believe that thirdgen firebirds and camaros aren't made in model form anymore, but you can still find a 84 mustang GT in Walmart. Does anyone have any pointers for this model, anything i should be worried about. Also has anyone ever built on before, on the box it shows that it has t-tops, but i don't know if it really does or not. Any tips from people that have built firebird or camaro models would be appreciated. I've built millions of models, but i'm looking for some behind the scene info. and details, on things to watch out for. Also, are there any models that would have a 2.8L V6 MPFI in em, i'd like to make this one a replica of my car, but i'd also like to find the motor. thanx.
your biggest problem is going to be with the painting. Before you spray it fill a sink up with water and put some dish soap in then drop the body in t get off all the old oils and everything from the factory. After its soaked ahile take it out and rinse it off well and let it air dry. NOw you can use a testors spray can of paint. Make sure you have a clean area and there are no fans running, you dont want dust! I reconmend getting a spare or old model and spraying it until you get a feel for how to spray it so it doesnt run. e-mail me slickwell@aol.com
