Advantages of Rear Disks?

Hey guys,

I was at the local scrapyard yesterday, while I was looking for various pieces I noticed that no fewer than three 3rd Gens had rear disc brakes.

I have 2 questions, What are the advantages to having rear discs and to all tose who've done it in their cars, How hard is it to do the swap???

TIA,
Don

They are a lot easier to change, that is for sure!!!
Anyway, I guess people would say that disc brakes have more stopping power. They probably do, but my grandpa's Pusstang has 4 wheel drums, and it sure stops quick. I would love to have 4 wheel discs, but I hate the brake dust you get off of normal pads. And the dust shields make 5 spoke wheels look stupid. Guess I need to buy some Raybestos pads!
