TPS hop-up? Everyone with a chip, read this
This is supposedly a new part to Summit this month...apologies to those of you who've already seen it.
I don't have the Summit with me, but supposedly this is a thing that basicallt hops up the TPS. It said something to the effect that, when the throttle is opened to at least 80%, the car acts as if its at WOT, and adjusts the spark curve (or something to that effect).
I know I'm not explaining this well, but do you guys know what I mean? For $80, is this legit? It appears to me that this little thing would allow the chip to kick in sooner, as it makes the car act as if its at WOT, even when its not.
Sure would cure the "got the floor mat shoved under the pedal so my chip doesn't do jack" syndrome

Take a look at the ad again if you have it...it says GM, nothing about models...all it gives is 3 different GM options depending on the years.
C'mon guys, SOMEONE must have an idea here...

The device will "jump" your TPS voltage higher when you get to a certain point in the TPS's travel. That's a description at the most simple terms. A few people have them, but didn't say much about 'em. The part's not that new, it's been in Summit for a year or so; I think it's made by Casper Systems, or something like that? You could search thirdgen.org for it.
I think the consensus on the last discussion re: this part was that it might be cheaper to re-adjust your TPS for a higher WOT voltage.
Oh and you're correct, there is no v6/v8 model-specific model. The TPS changed connectors (and design) in certain years; as long as you order the correct year part, it'll work.

Thanks for the info Tom...I'm gonna do that search. And indeed, I think it is made by Casper Technologies.
For $89, I'm gonna give it a shot. Apparently, it does actually do something
I have no idea how to hop up the TPS any other way (such as the one you stated above).
For reference, how DO you do that?

Good point
Can anyone shed some light on this? I have a Hypertech Stage 1.

The TPS sensor re-adjust goes along with the minimum idle re-adjust/IAC reset procedures. YOu should find it in the tech section of this website.
The V6 specs are a bit different then the v8 tpi's. Idle is 0.045 volts, +/- 0.10 volts. "WOT" is 4.5 volts- but I never got that high.
The Prom burning guys tell me that the computer kicks in the PE stage (power enrichment) at a certain percentage of the idle voltage. With this info and their experience, they told me that the computer enters PE at a bit over 4.0 volts. My TPS, with all my fiddling, reads "only" 4.28 at WOT. So according to the PROM guys, my ECM is entering PE, even though my GM service manual says otherwise.

This has been an ongoing debate for years. You really only need the TPS to read over 4.0 volts for the ecm to go into WOT mode.
I've seen guys play with their TPS to get the voltage over 4.5 volts, and guess what, no improvement in their ets. In fact, they then had problems with idle. This gizmo just avoids that problem by "plugging" a voltage over 4.5 volts...but it does nothing more than if your stock TPS is reading over 4.0 volts.
Save your money and use the cash to buy the equipment to burn your own eprom. THIS is where you will get results.

TomP, if you have a scan tool, look at your BLM/INT values when you hit your 4.2+ volts. I guarantee that they are BOTH at 128/128 (which means you are in WOT mode).
People get "hung up" because the "Learn mode" still says "ON"...instead of "OFF" like open loop mode. What they keep forgeting is... WOT MODE is different that open loop. Don't get hung up on the "On/Off" part.. look at the BLM/INT values...if they say 128/128...you are in WOT Mode.
