Brake Question

Ok, everyone knows that annoying scraping sound when your disc pads are wearin out. How long do i have before I ABSOLUTELY NEED new ones. For now I bent the little pin out of the way to get rid of that damn noise, plus I don't like it constantly touching my rotor. I'm kinda low on cash and need to know.

dude, the last time my "wear sensor" started scraping i was like "what the friek...i just replaced those pads?". i looked at them and i still had about 35% left. anyways, i'm saying that the sensor doesn't mean you NEED brakes IMMEDIATLY. my suggestion would be to LOOK at the pads and see how much you have left. if you still have alot, just bend the sensor back a little so it scrapes when you DO need new pads.

My front pads wear at a slight angle, and wear differently between the outer & inner shoe. Make sure to check all edges of both pads- a pad that looks thick in one spot might be thin as hell in another!

(I've also bent that scraper out the way after checking my pads)

it's a safty thing to change the pads when they start scratching, if you have to make an emergency brake, (120 to stop) and your pad is too thin, it could get blown away and than it's not only 50 bucks you have to spend on. tho it's no saving to bent the sensor

only way to know is to actually check them.. ive seen a lot of people install pads upside down with the wear "scrapper" on the bottom because its easier to put em on that way, but then you get stones that can jump up and bend it in making it scrape prematurly.. ive had bent indicators scraping on several week old pads, and ive also been down to about 2/10r of backing and it still wasnt scraping..
