about a week ago I was doing a tune up and noticed oil all over the #5 spark plug when I pulled it out, so I bought a compression guage and found out the compression was only 85 compared to the 170-185 of the other cylinders. Now I have the top half of the motor off, and the motor itself has been jacked up about 4 inches , so I could get the oil pan off, and pull the piston/rod assembly out through the top. WEll nothing is wroing with the rings it looks like, but I'm putting new ones in anyway. I;m going to send the heads to the machine shop to see if they are cracked. Apparently I;ve had this problem for months and months because I have been losing oil, but I could never find any leaks, but I now know where the oil is going.....
on the bright side, I suppose with full compression my 1/4 mile time should be better, since I;ve basically been running on 5 good cylinder and one half *** working one.
