Just bought the next piece to the puzzle

Just bought a Holly Commander for the engine control. I took the car down to out local custom shop and was surprised i didn't get the "put an 8 in it" Rather he asked if i was bringing the pipe to get the custom Y pipe done or was he supplying it. I am wanting to get pic's of those 3.4L headers that that guy installed, i am thinking it will be cheaper to have them bend those rather then fab new ones. The one thing that made me get the Commander was TOTAL engine control and the gentalman down at the shop said i really need to hook in a turbo or SC. I have talked to majestic turbo and am in contact with the makers of the Rotrex SC. We will see. I still haven't found pistons yet, but now with the possiblity of going boosted i may drop to 8 to 8.5:1 compression. At 9psi this mill should make ------- get ready V8 guys ------- 318 engine HP.... that should be close to 270 RWHP. Thats a 13.5 in the 1/4. Oh btw... we weighed the car... a 1991 firebird WITH the ground package weighs 3175 w/o drive and full gas, or atleast mine does. Also the gentalman said a rotrex WILL bolt in and run the 2.8/3.1/3.4 with no problem, the install is a matter of a custom plate, drop out the A/C and piping. The problem will be the fuel delievery above 5psi. still tho a stock 3.1 with 5psi is about 190 to 200hp. Anyways, just an update.

Slowly but surely seeking a 14.2 NA in the 1/4 mile.

Sounds good, Red91! What kind of pistons were you looking for? Someone posted on here once that they had to have pistons special-ordered...

Ah- found the link. Looks like it was a Fiero 2.8 motor. The discussion from here was at: https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000541.html

His webpage (with an annoying Fiero picture moving across the whole page? Duh? How am I supposed to see the page?) is at http://www.geocities.com/capt_fiero2000/capts_page.html

Not sure what pistons i am looking for now. They have to be forged that i know but with the thought of going blown i will have to make a choice, non blown and run 10.2:1 or blown running 8.5 to 8.9:1, it depends on what i can run as well, i do not think the stock 8.9:1 will hurt a blown engine at all considering what most of the newer v8's run. I have gotten the go ahead from the better half to buy a Rotrex, so now its just getting the mufflershop to commit and nail down afew people that have done this sort of thing. I am also waiting for back pay so i am being held up on that too. I do have a question for ya tho Tom I have a TB that has been increased to 53mm, it supposed to flow 19% better then stock. (btw, the fiero store will work on out firebird TB's but they WILL NOT fit our cars from what they say) Now that said what is the difference between the TB i have and a TPI 350 53mm TB. I know mine has one air hole while the V8 has 2. The guy that did a turbo 3.1L here has the V8 one on his 3.1L. Do they flow better? I am writing EVERYTHING down tho and am taking pic's so when it is done i will be posting the dyno sheet from the ECU tuning and opening a web page to show the conversion, right down to manufacture #'s and phone numbers of the shops that did the work. Its really not that bad, just ALOT of buying parts that don't directly fit. Hell, i REALLY recommend getting the Commander too, even if you don't run blown guys, it controls EVERYTHING, and you can program it from your laptop while someone drives the car, you program yer car. To cool. Oh one other thing i forgot to mention on the rotrex, i will be removing the AC and the blower goes where it was, i will most likely have to get a custom crank pully made to drive two belts. We are not sure as of yet tho, it will depend on how the blower lines up. We may go direct geared too, but at this point its looking like it will pop in with a custom plate and line up to the beltline. I do not know if i will get it alltho, it is looking good.
