The car races at idle in "Park" not "Drive," Carb flap adjust screw is in all the way

Ok, i noticed the car "Races" at idle when in Park. I attempted to rectify thsi situation by finfing my 5mm socket (trial and error) and putting the screw on the flap mostly all th way IN. The result is that it idles low and smooth, when my foot is on the brake and the car is in "Drive." Very low, very smooth, nice shifts, for th mos part, i need to change the filter on that im sure, it shifts nice 90% of the time, better then when the screw was all the way out. Now, when it is in "park.." High, racy idle!

I like this car enough that evn though i have a 1997 (1998?) Buick Century Limited wih leather for $300 staring me in the face (no lie, was in an accident with two doors roughed up just a little bit, minor damage will need a new door and window on rear door, and a front door, thats all. Person is forced to sell, im waning to buy it runs 100 actuall runs better than Camaro and is ful injected,) I like to "Tinker with" my first carb'd car, which is this Camaro. And it looks wholly different than the Buick (which is in beer condition than my car, too And will get less tickets. And cant do burn-outs, which got me a ticket that might equal up for me IRL. I hope not. $2000 on lawyer ill find out.)

This is what i have noticed startign the car up, trying to tune it as optimal as i can before finding a suitable place to work on it, during a day on a weekend with my friend that sold me he car and is in the Navy and would likely help me do it. *He claims he made the car run after i wouldnt start when he bought it, from a trailer park. Im sur h did somehing, i dont doubt him, but perhaps not all he says.* And yes, it gets driven around my parking lot.

Me not touching it is an impossibility.

So, frst question.. where is one of th most likely spos i could "lose vacuum," and wouldnt a vacuum elak make the car run bad?

I can also report DISMAL gas mileage (same as when screw was out more?,) it sucks down gas VERY fast Im nto sure what is going on I am open to suggestions, and the next step Is a shop, if i cant figure out (or don have the mecnahical ability) to adjust i up myself. (It also ran like **** when i touched the flap the screw was on. he next time, i adjusted the screw with th car off, so i wouldnt run all bad. My exhaust sounded bad and the car wanted to stall for a bit. It cooled down, and ran "ok." Im no sur what is happening.) Thanks, friends! Interiew tomorrow, checking in before im out a few days with non-car issues.

Sorry for any bad spelling, his keybaord is not optimal. Thank you for imput, all.
