Has anyone heard of 2.8L V6's lasting over 200K miles?
I still think that I've got most everyone beat as far as 2.8 liter mileage. It isn't an F-car, but my dad's 1991 2.8 liter GMC Sonoma has 307,000 miles on it, and I have never had the valve covers off of it. We change the oil every 5,000 miles on all of our cars, and they have all gone well over 150K miles with no problems. We live outside of town, though, so do whatever you think is best for your ride.

hey guys, i guess my car is the baby around here. my firebird 3.1 has 181,000 miles on it, and hasn't had any major problems. the most serious thing mechanically was that there were leaks in the drive line (not sure exactly where, probably the differential) caused by a broken transmission mount. the leaks were fixed, and we got a nice little polyurethane unit (dont know if i spelled that right). oh, and dont think that i don't take care of my car... the damage was done by my uncle, and i inherited the car (i'm a senior in high school). good to see that a lot of you guys with the 60* v6s are racking up miles without too much trouble. i plan on driving this car until the 3.1 dies, then replacing it with a nice ls1, or whatever comes up. take it easy, guys.

also, people say racing teams use Mobil 1 so it MUST be superior....but it is pretty obvious that Mobil 1 pays a lot of money to have their oil used by race teams.
oh, you know what always makes me laugh, i work for toyota and people come in and say they want to buy "authentic toyota motor oil" and they proceed to pay about $3 a quart for a bottle that says TOYOTA on the outside but has MOBIL 1(it used to be quaker state)on the inside.
anyway, just griping

I've got 106,500, and it's got a buttload of minor problems but nothing that seems to be robbing the motor of power or eagerness... I've never driven a car more eager to be mashed to WOT at EVERY redlight acceleration than this car.. Hell 1/2 throttle behaves ALMOST like WOT half the time!

Sheesh! The last time I checked, I had approx 60,000 miles on her. I only put 700 or so miles on it for the 2002 driving season. So, doing the math... at that rate, it will take me 186 years to get to 200k. Too bad I won't be around when it happens...
I drive the car less than 1000 miles/year. I change the oil in the fall and in the spring. The winter oil only has idle time on it. Talk about a waste of resources... I should be taken into the street and beaten...

You know what guys...I think I'm gonna let this thread die an honorable death. The last post was on 2002.
