Hey, what would cause my exhaust to make a popping sound when revving down. I was out trying to make a sound file to post for you guys, and I'd rev it up, and on it's way down, it'd sound like it was popping. BTW, for some reason, the file came out sounding ricy, which is NOT the way mine sounds....so i'll try again sometime.

Thanks Graemes. Guess I was just overreacting.

 

Mine also does it. I actually kinda like the way it sounds, the low grumble and popping. I sometimes ride around in 1st or 2nd gear to get that sound when I let off the gas and the engine slows down the car.

It's backfiring, but it's normal. Part of our EGR is notorious for not closing fast enough when you decelerate, sorry I don't remember anything more detailed then that right now, I can check it out if you want. It's not a big backfire though, so it doesn't hurt anyhting. One of our little quirks.
