wheels and tires

I have a 1991 firebird with the orginal wheels on it. I am pretty sure they are 15 x 8. I am getting ready to lower the car 1 inch all the way around. I want to know what is the wides tire I can put on it without rubbing.

I DO NOT want the tires to stick out of the fender wells.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Oh well, gives me an excuse to buy new wheels. I guess I will step up to a 16 x 8. I really want to put GTA wheels on it. I am in the Dallas, Texas area, and I am not sure where I could locate a nice used set. I want the black ones. If anyone has any info on this, let me know.

Again thanks.

I have and 89, the stock wheels are 15x8, and 265/50-15's fit nicely. They will rub at the steering wheel locks (parking). Nice fat tire. Mine is also lowered 1.5 inches.

Was there some kind of appearance option for the v6's? Maybe the first owner upgraded the car?
