Hey TomP or anyone else

Need to know afew things. On a 3rd gen horn WITH the air bag, how easy is it to trace the wiring? we haven't checked the simple yet to see if the horn itself is blown, can't even find the damn horn under the hood - which might be the prob (grin)

Next the turn/light tree, the hi beams don't go on, its really easy to pull the level back but theres no click or resistance, i do know it worked once and after that it didn't so i know the wiring is ok, how hard is it to fix/adjust the lever?

Headlight (driverside firebird) PITA... it goes up then down, up then down, sometimes it will stay 1/2 way up, sometimes it'll stay down and rarely it will pop and lock... I am assuming its a stripped gear.. is it easy to fix?

Last problem

The passenger side window, the motor works fine but the window itself jumped out of track, is is easy to fix... something about a plastic C clip i am hearing about?

An update on my old car is it is running great, he claimed to have smoked a 98 TA on NOS (he was on gas), the TA was lightly modded exhaust and chip... Dunno about smoking it but he is a damn good driver so it wouldn't surprise me. I ended up getting a older TA with a 403 in it and standard tranny, its all i can do at the moment to keep up to the 91 when he's not on gas and he pulls on me on the gas. Further proof a V6 can run if ya spend lots of money. Hes getting the interior done over and the car painted next month...

I have the same problem with the '92 Rs' Horn, it doesn't work. I asked on the Electronics board & was told that GM used plastic contacts for the buttons & they are prone to wearing out quite rapidly. I've also been told that replacements are available via GM for $15

The horn, under the hood, is inside the driver's side fender, way at the front. If you look at the upper frame rail, right where the fender hangs from, you'll see a large (13mm IIRC) bolt, On the other side of that bolt are two brackets, each holding a horn (one low tone & one high tone). The wire going to them is green.

Past that, I don't know much more... I've never dove into the column. I need to, though! My left turn signal won't cancel anymore- and I also have to work on my horn! If I have the wheel turned sometimes, instead of a long, drawn out, "pissed off" honk, I'll get a happy, I-didn't-mind-you-cutting-me-off "beep beep-beep beep!" And then I get even angrier! Lucky for me, though, whenever the car's gone through inspection, the horn's worked.

On the left side of the column (window side), is a rod. It connects to the HIGH/LOW beam. DO YOU FEEL ANY RESISTANCE? If so, the switch is still connected (the click click sound). The wiring harness maybe off down the steering shaft tube. Or switch shot.
NOW, I am giving ya information gained from working on my 1985 steering columns. Suggestion, go to the GM dealer ask them to do an detailed illustrated parts print out of your year steering column. That can assit ya!
