Alil tidbit for ya 3.4L guys
Happened across a 1990 firebird today at work while out on a smoke break. It was a nice car so i decided to go over and take a look at it. It was parked in the parking lot next to our building Which is really to bad, out building needs better cars in the lot.... Anyways after drooling over the thing for about 20 minutes (why was i drooling you ask) heheh i'll tell ya... It was a 1990 firbird, Artic white that reflected your image back at ya. (later found out it was a 2000.00 paint job, 8 coats of clear coat alone. The windows where tinted a Mother of pearl type tint that had the spectrum of the rainbow in it (kinda like candy apple does) it was a light hint when ya moved about the car, not over powering. So anyways as i tryed peering inside a voice came from behind, like firebirds do ya? it was the owner, i told him how i built one, he has said he had seen it last month and it was a good looking car. He had ment to track me down and chat. Even said how he tryed to catch me one time but he got a light, went on to say how he would have caught me, i said yeah if i let ya (more on that talk at the end) anyways he opened her up and the inside --- OMG the inside.... Was done over in black and white, the seats all had been professionally redone with tiger strips, not a flaw in the interior at all, even had the new car smell... A B&M shifter with a button on it... hermmm i know that button so i had to ask, so he popped the hood.... WTF.... the engine, it was a V6, so i said hey i had a 6 in mine, man the 3.1L are great blocks, i see you have detailed it... It was all done over in fresh paint, chrome and anidized purple fittings. He said it was a 3.4L he and his buddy had built and installed last month. He gave the run down on what was in it and he didn't miss a detail. He started it and it sounded mean with a light lope to it, it reved clean too. Not like most V6's ya hear, this thing either one had a good exhaust system on it or two had a strong engine... (insiders hint pick two) So we chatted for awhile longer and i gave him my number. Well on the way home i see him on my *** coming out of work so i goose it and he keeps up, we get to I35 and i goose it harder, he keeps up, i floor it and he goes bye bye.... zipped past me... ITs been raining lke hell out here so it wasn't a "real" race but i don't doubt he can blow my TA away. I just got back from his house, the car runs mid to low 13's guys he has a 100 shot on the engine... It is a beast. He says it pushes 250 crank hp and will peak 375 on the bottle -- thats what he says. That is about right too as mine did a best of 13.98 and we got a hp figure of 196 rearwheel hp then add a 75 shot, no dyno report with NOS tho... I saw the receipts he has, he has well over 11k into the car with about 4k in the engine alone. Anyway the moral of the story is this.... those lil 3.4L engine pull hard and can make some decent power, wish i had mine to do all over again cuz all i gotta say is F'ing WOW!!!!!
Oh yeah i forgot top add this... his best time on the car is 13.20 at 103mph, that was on a gtech i believe he said... He WILL be at the local drag strip this summer... god i can't wait to see afew V8 guys laugh it up until the green falls....

His name is steve, not gonna give the last name as he can do that if he wants, i told him about the site and gave him the addy. I mentioned that ALOT of V6 guys would love to see/hear and talk about what he did as very few of the V8 guys are ragging on us from time to time. He said that he has put afew V8's away, lost to more then won but ALWAYS gets a thumbs up as a loss is usually only by a car or 3. HE also said he likes to take rice burners and embarass them on the track. anyways, yes the car does pull like a train lol
