I "worked" at a local Penske auto center in Illinois/Carbondale. About 4 months ago a customer bught 4 tire for his escort. 3 weeks later he returned one of the tires saying that it vibrated..ok no prob... replaced the tire customer was happy. Now here is where is gets interesting...
About 6 weeks later (after seeing the tire had not been thrown away/returned to goodyear) I asked why we still had it and it had not been returned. Tom Pikey the store manager said theres nothing wrong with that tire we are going to resell it...I was outraged.
Now the new customer came in maybe 3 days later and Tom being the great manager he is sold the guy 2 tires for his honda(1 of them being the returned tire).
I mounted both of them and saw that the returned tire did in fact have a strong wobble in it. Tom came over and looked at it and said it was fine and to let it roll...I was furious...
When the customer came back to pick up the car I informed him on his way out that one of the tires was indeed used (the color bars were worn off) and to take imediate pics of this and go to the local attorney generals office and see what can be done. What did I get for pointing this out to the "ripped off" customer...you guessed it fired.
After an arguement with Tom him saying that I work for him/Penske and NOT the customer I informed him that THE CUSTOMER HE JUST RIPPED OFF PAYS THE BILLS AND NOT HIM, I WORK FOR THE CUSTOMER PERIOD. I called the corproate offices teh same day and they imediately reinstated me and sent me to work the next day.
What ever happened to Tom Pikey at the Carbondale Illinois store..nothing..he is still there ripping off people to this very day...selling unessisary work and parts...He refuses to sell a brake job that will not buy calipers (who the hell replaces their calipers every brake job?) And my camaro have a retrofitted 1LE brake system..the damn calipers cost 95 a peice!!!
Just letting everyone know not to go to Penske auto centers fo any work at all.
