SFI TO CARB

Hi as many people on here have done I want to do the 2.8 to 3.4 swap. I have found a 95 3.4 sfi engine. My question is can i change the SFI to carb. Has anyone done this and what would it consist of doing.

Re: SFI TO CARB

I don't see any carb intakes available for a 3.4l engine - I looked at Jegs & Summit, as well as the Edelbrock site - so I'm guessing the answer is no, you can't. But the trick would be to find a manufacturer that makes a carb intake for that motor.

It's the same intake as a 2.8 or 3.1.

You'd be better served getting your information from the V6 forum.

Re: SFI TO CARB

Why would you want the old carb over EFI?

Re: SFI TO CARB

Can i do that keep the 3.4 SFI. I would have to get an electric fuel pump anyway right to do this swap. Can i use the fuel rails from the 3.4 or do I need to find 2.8 fuel rails. Would the 2.8 computer throw a fit.

Re: SFI TO CARB

for "3.4 swap" ... It's been covered over and over again. And yes, if you're currently carbed, you need a whole sending unit from a FI car since the fuel pump you have, even if it would swap over to the "new" engine (which it can't since the holes in the boss don't exist), it wouldn't flow anywhere near enough or produce enough pressure for the injection to work. And you can't just add the pump to your existing sending unit unless you go for a $$$ inline pump.
