Ok guys, can't figure out where these plug in.... (Please help ASAP!!!)

Alright... got everything buttoned up, went to turn the key, it clicks, but doesn't turn over. I know I need a new starter, so that's not really the question. My question is:

I can't figure out where two wires plug in. One comes off the main wiring harness behind the distributor, and has a white plug on the end, with three wires going to it. Pink, brown and green (I think... don't quote me). No idea where this plugs in....

Ok, number two, the wire going from the passenger side of the car (by the battery), connecting to the fan, then going towards the driver's side of the car (not sure if it's even supposed to go that way, but it does). No idea where that goes either.

Could these be preventing my car from turning over? I don't think so... but maybe. The reason I don't know where they go is because my dad is the one who took all this stuff apart, and took the wires apart and stuff... that was in August, so he doesn't remember (don't really expect him to...). Anyway, thanks for the help.... hopefully I'll be driving this thing to school by the end of the week.... With that "little 2.8" under the hood .

If your car is making a clicking noise when you try to crank it, that means there is not enough voltage to start it. It is not your starter - either bad battery or undercharged. As to the wires, I have no clue.

ALL THE WIRING SHOULD LITERALLY FALL BACK INTO PLACE. THERE SHOULD BE NO MYSTERIES!
Wires by the dist, either go back to coil area. Wires by front, there should be none!
All wires snaked from junction block to behind engine to distributor, to injector system to oil filter area to water temp, AC compressor. Start from the sides, make sure all are connected. You need juice to the battery. Go get it charged or get a REAL battery charger to assist in start up. IF IT DOESN"T START RIGHT AWAY, pull off cap & check position of rotor to plug for #1. You want your TDC on 0 at the balancer, use a crank socket to make it so!!
Again, you should have NO left over wires! All of my wiring fell right back into place. I ONLY marked wires for injectors & spark plug wires. Everything else, I left unidentified & it fell back into place.
I'M ROOTING FOR YOUR SUCCESS!!
My battery is on the driver side.
The dist. wires may go into the dist. You do have two wire harnesses into the dist., right?

Hmmm...On my car the batterey is on the opposite side, but behind the airbox there is a relay on mine, maybe the wire is suspose to run to it...

Just a thought....

Guess what guys.... IT RUNS!!!! It started up last night when we jumped it with my dad's truck.... Found out where that one wire goes by the fan (To the airbox, duh...). Still can't figure out where the other one goes though... still trying. Should be driving it by Friday.... If I can find out where the wire goes.

Congrats on the success, 87CamaroLT! Glad to hear it starts up! Hey that other harness you're talking about; I seem to remember an odd one on my friend's 89 Camaro. I think it has three wires. It was clipped to the underside of the cowl, almost where the cowl meets the firewall. I think it had three wires on it... not sure what it's for... but maybe the "mate" is lying nearby.

Good things just seem to be happening this week.... I just got my computer back from my friend, so now I'm back. The car runs, with no leaks... just need to set the timing (she's shaking fairly bad). But I'll tell you what, it's got some torque behind it... just crack down on the pedal, and the whole car rocks side to side... Talk about grinning ear to ear ! Still don't have any idea where that wire goes, and can't find my dad's test light to see if it has power going to it. The shop foreman at the Chevy dealer said that it may not go to anything, it might just be an option, or they might've used a V8 harness and that might not go anywhere. I checked by the firewall Tom, but no go... nothing to plug it into. Also, there's smoke coming from the engine.... I'm thinking that it's just because of all the new gaskets and such (I know, this is a "duh" question, but better safe than sorry, right?), am I right? Thanks everyone, especially Ked for making this happen. I couldn't have done it without you guys....

Did you paint the engine?

Nope.... The smoke seems to mainly be coming from the exhaust manifolds... I'm thinking it's just because of the new gaskets (and I spilled a little oil on one.... but that should've burned off...)

Well.... it runs, barely . It's got a real bad vibration in it, and I'm thinking it's because I used the 2.8 balancer. Could that cause it to lose power? I'm planning on putting the 3.4 balancer back on it, hopefully tomorrow.... Hopefully this train will depart the station sometime this weekend...

I'm so PLEASED to have inspired you to do this swap.
Now it runs barely.
That doesn't work, as previously you said, tons of torque.
Timing is simple, Loosen, hear engine idle smooth, back distributor a slight bit, crank it down, then test drive.
IT could be the MAS. Mine was bad. I had power, but it pinged. Drove it about 70 miles home, had the power, but, not right. Swapped the MAS and it's be righteous ever since.
Able to leap tall buildings!, Too.
Balancer. The engine would vibrate, not be smooth. It would shake.
Smoke is from the oil spilled on exhaust manifolds.
DID YOU ADJUST VALVES CORRECTLY!!! Put compression tester on the cylinders. I have 175-200.
That can really explain what's happening.

Well, I think the main reason is the 2.8 balancer. Timing is set dead at 10 btc. The motor vibrates at idle, but when you get inside and rev on it (yes, it does rock side to side... badass ), and hold it at about 3 grand, there is a hard (crisp, not violent) vibration in the pedal... We're changing the balancer tonight (got the pulley off, just waiting for dad to get home from work with the puller), gonna swap that and see if it smooths out. I searched through the old posts on this, and pods8 (I think) said he used his 2.8 flexplate with the 3.4 balancer and had no problems.
Hopefully this is what it'll turn out to be.... then I get to drive it around the neighborhood with the hood off (I lost the bolts.... well, just some of them) and the stereo slamming.... I love attention ... Anyway, I'll keep y'all updated....
