I would have given my left nut for this T/A

Yesterday next door to where I work,a '89 Trans Am pacecar edition. White. Leather seats. T-tops. Absolutely IMMACULATE condition, looked like it was right off the showroom floor. Buttons all over. Every option you could think of,this car had it.
The car was a turbo 3.8. You should have seen it. God was it beautiful. I would have traded my firstborn for it.

I have a few technical questions about the T/A I saw...

Would it beat a 350 Z28 or GTA?
How much would one of these cost since I REEELY would like to have one?
What kind of suspension did it have? It said "performance suspension" on a little emblem on the dash.

Man this car was the NICEST thirdgen I had ever seen,PERIOD! I WANT ONE!!!

How much $$$?

Your firstborn alone wouldn't do it, might need to trade in your mother, too, and that's just the down payment.

Beat a 350? That's cute... The TTA (Turbo Trans Am) has a number of interesting features and historical anomolies. The most interesting is that it's the fastest production F-body, EVER. Going back to the big blocks, and forward to the LS1's, stock against stock, it can kill them all. The only variation it can't beat is some of the first Firehawks, but those aren't production. Better yet, for minimal work, it goes even FASTER. I've heard 10's and 11's for under $1000 worth of mods.

If that pacecar is for sale, you should talk to your folks about a second mortgage to be able to ****** it up.

You can pull one for anywhere from 15,000-20,000. Any more above that and it'd better have like only 10K on it.

I bought one just recently with 42,000 miles on it. All options leather and everything.

It has a salvaged title and I need to put the power mirros back on, replace all stickers and eblems(which the guy I bought it off of had) replace the passengerside tail light. Put the front clip and headlights back in and put the front and side GFX on. All paint and body work was done. all told I paid $3500 for it. I plan on getting a lot of pictures taken of it when I get home this weekend and hopefully post step by step pics of my restoration/ reassembling of the car. Then I plan on doing minimal mods to it and keeping all stock parts.

I am thinking that I am going to put the Spohn rear end parts and put Poly urethane bushing in the front. Plus a set of intrax lowering springs. THey will take it down about 1" or 2" all around and level it out.
Then I think I will do very minimal performace parts on the engine. Probably maodify the Air intaks and do Port matching so that everything will paear stock.
My goal it to hit a 13.0 1/4 and still have it look stock.

To answere a few questons rated HP was 250 wich everyone knew was a lie
Stock 1/4 mile ranged from 13.5 sec to 13.1
0-60 5.5 sec.
Level 3 suspension with corvette brakes on all 4 corners (1 le package)

Hey Violate and Vortec, calm down. From the listed times, the 89 TTA is the fastest production F-body ever made except for the 25 Firehawk's made in 91-92. And with MINOR tuning, they turned even lower times.

And yes Violate, I did go to the site, and how is saying that the TTA is faster saying something retarded? Bone stock I see that the LS1 guys are running 13.5-13.4's. I did see a guy that hit a 12.907 in his 2001. Then again 20psi ran a 12.42 in his stock TTA. I don't know. Call me retarded, but I'm not seeing how a 12.907 beats a 12.42. My friend has a SLIGHTLY modded 2000 WS6, and he's runnin a 12.90, but hmm....I'm still not seeing that beating a 12.42. Lemme look up the STOCK LISTED time for a TTA.
Road Performance Figures
0-60 5.4 sec
1/4 mile et 13.5 sec
1/4 mile speed 101.??
Top speed 161
Braking, 60-0 139 ft.
Lateral accelerations, g's 0.86
Weight/horsepower ratio 13.4:1

VS an SS Camaro LS1 (only real listing I could find) that Popular Mechanics rated at 13.5 w/ good drivers.
A lot will argue that back in 89, the people who tested the TTA were crappy drivers. But I looked at the times that people were getting w/ their stock ls1's, and their stock TTA's, and the TTA's have it hand down.
If that's not enough, when I went looking at 2001 TA's just for a laugh at what I can't afford, I picked up a brochure for the 10th anniversary Firehawk's. This is taken DIRECTLY out of the brochure.
"...consider the ferocious Suer Duty and 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Ams. Fast forward to 2001, only one Firebird was quicker than those legendary 'Birds. The one you're looking at now." (the 2001 Firehawk). So even Pontiac admits that the only LS1 it has that's faster is the 2001 Firehawks.

And what do you mean by "always have to say retarded **** like that." I don't make it a point to go claiming false information. And I still fail to see how pointing out an obvious fact, and backing it with proof, is retarded. Claiming something is right just because you say it is right is retarded.

I got a better idea...why dont you shut the **** up until you figure out whats the smart thing to say. The man is right. Stock for stock the 3.8L TTAs were and still are the fastest F-body. And I seriously dont appreciate you talking **** to my friends. So just back down until you know what you are talking about.

I knew this conversation was missing something......nothing like monkie to throw the **** at the fan, I know how fast both cars are because Ive been in both and I respect them so I guess Im done here. Didnt mean to come off as a **** to you guys but I get tired of hearing #s qouted at me all the time and the second worse thing you can do is confuse vortech with vortec (pet peave)
