Unless youve got a ****load of money, you couldnt build a 2.8 strong enough to withstand turbo.

well going along with this millionth post on the turbo Vs Super thread...

The 2.8 along with the 3.1 can withstand mild turbos, going against what another person said. Try to remember to the 90-91 cavilier...it had a turbo. Mild at best about 4-5 psi I think. all engines can stand some boost, it just has to go to start low and build up to test. I don't know if the cavilier headers will come close to bolting on to a RWD engine but it might be worth a try. At lest you can take it to someone and have them fab a header up using that one as a "pusdo" mold/guide...

I think I read somewhere that in the v6 scenario the supercharger is a bit better because it doesn't need to spool up. A turbo needs alot of rpm's to spool up and generate power, a supercharger is always on and since our engines are low rpm engines, it will give you instant power off the line.

If I read correctly you're right about the pressure, the 60* v6 can take 4-5 psi without any mods done to the bottom end, but I also know theres a problem with detonation but I dont know how to deal with this.

It would be nice if one of the turbo/ supercharger dudes could lend a hand here. I browsed through the past postings and found nearly nothing on this for the 60* V6.

hey LottaBallsCamaro,

Goto www.turboz24.com and ask him how his 3.1L handles upto 16 pounds of boost and showing LS1's his taillights Hes a local in my neck of the woods and runs it fine... BTW a 2.8L and 3.1L are basically the same block and parts and they are as strong as eachother. Not a flame, just info for ya....

On a side note, i built a 13.98 runner, was a 91 firebird on NOS with a 3.1L V6. There tough lil mills....

Nitrous... Cheaper, can develop as much and more HP, then everyday you get better gas mileage...
