Fresh Air bought at the Wrecking Yard

Today, I returned a core at the wrecking yard.
It was a Chrysler 2 bbl intake. God that thing is heavy! I planned on wondering around. I stopped a guy from pulling a V-6 Camaro gauge package for his V-8 Camaro. I told him it would work, but not right. I eventually saw him finding the right one to pull. I keep searching. I discover the Z-28 style air cleaner set up on a V-6 Camaro. I have only been introduced to this thing, by my friends 1990 Z-28. I never knew they were on the V-6's, too. Of course I grab it!. Then I keep walking, I found 3 more set ups, all on V-6 Camaro. I decided to get the best of all three, walk out about $15 lighter.
NOW, how do I hook this up to my Firebird?
I have decided to just cut up the core support, sink in the air filter part, attach the air cleaner to the engine, extend wires (got those harnesses, too), put on the side pieces so the air goes just to the radiator & air filters, kinda be done with it. I know I willhave to "create" all proper fitment, a little cut & shave here & there. But the hood will close, flat. I have to keep the Firebird core support, as I knew not to get the hood attachment for the Camaro. And I do not feel like going back to the yard.
Any thoughts?

The reason they never used that intake on firebirds is because the slope of the hood is shallower and it won't clear.

For real?
Means I may have to get out a bigger hammer to close the hood!
If that's the case, I will cut the radiator core support and reinforce it from behind so it can close flat.
WHAT I AM THINKING is that, also, the headlight pockets and the bumper support/nose is different.
That's also why they did not use this air cleaner design.
I'll find out soon, tho.
It's at my friends business, running thru the parts washer. Next comes the Sawzall to cutout the Firebird Nose support to sink the bottom air cleaner w/filters.

Hey Drew,
I keep looking at the pics in the upper left corner. 3rd org ones.
I know the fenders are the same. I know the hoods are the same. I know the noses are different.
I hear your point, honest, I do,
Not doubt it, but
I keep looking at those pics, I see no true difference.

The fenders are not the same, the hood is not the same, and the nose is not the same... Not to mention the stock Camaro Y intake is jsut as restrictive as the Firebirds intake setup. The only advantage to the Y intake is with the camaro's foglight holes, etc... On the firebird there isn't much reason to have the intake in front of the radiator. You'd be much further ahead to hit a hardware store for a couple lengths of 3-4" PVC pipe.

Yeah, the Firebird stuff slopes downward. For instance; the Camaro's fenders are taller in the front than the Firebirds; the firebird's slope down to line up with the hood. I think someone here tried the dual-snorkel on their Firebird, and couldn't get the hood closed.

Ah- here's the message. It's at the very end, by Bandit76. https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000380.html

I hear ya.
Still gotta try something with that setup.
I mean, I gotta try something!
If I screw up to bad, I only wasted about $14.
And I can get anotehr suopport in the yard, too.
But, that little hole for the air box on birds is for the birds!
Gotta figure something ouT! My car needs air!
I know, launch it off the side of a building! LOL
