muffler question
muffler question
right now i have a vortex muffler. I was wondering if paying more money for a better name muffer (ex. Flowmaster, Dynomax etc.) would be worth it? i want my car louder, I would also like to have it sound like a V8 and have some gained HP along the way. I have a friend with a 92 Thunderbird that completely took his muffler off, is this a better idea? So should I keep the same muffler, get a better named one, or completely take it off???????

i have a flowmaster on my 87 bird and it sounds great. It almost sounds like my friends 89 350! I think the flowmasters sound better than the dynomax, but that's just my opinion.

whatever you do DO NOT TAKE IT OFF!. The fuel injected cars require certain back pressure. For sound I dunno..this that flowmaster, dynomax, thrush, what ever yadda yadda It depends on the engine. I have heard good sounds from almost everything flow. dynomax stock with tips....personally I liked flows with small tips best. 2 1/4 with 8 by 2 1/2 tips.it had a deep throaty sound at idle through about 2k and the tips kicked in at 1800 through 2500 so it balanced out.
