Gas Prices, Glad I have a 6...
Okay gas was 83.9 Supreme, and 78.9 regular Friday, well today they are 93.9 Supreme and 84.9 Regular(this all in litres). I don't have my car on the road yet, and I am scared to drive my six.
So....now that I am done bitching, hmmm...tech, whats the best octane boost I can put in my tank? Whats everyone seeing for milage in there six?

Man oh man. Time for you to move to BC. We are still 72.9 here for regular and its cheaper yet in the Fraser Valley.
BTW for all you American drivers, this is Canadian for a Liter of gas. 1US$=$1.51C and 3.875 Liters = 1 US gallon. You can do the math to convert. But it is expensive for those people in Eastern Canada.

Ha, it's $1.80+ here in northern WI and the UP of Michigan.
Thank goodness for 30 MPG!!

I get like 8 - 12 mpg. But my car is dying so that might just be me. gas here in MA costs $1.80 for premium and $1.60 for reg. I have to put $10-$20 in the tank a day. This car is killing me. I need another job.

The low gas milage is not surprising.
Underpowered engine, short bursts/hops to get to the front of the line.
That's about right.
My combo is getting 15+. I have advantage of torque from the 3.4 mill
Unless I cruise steady and I get over 20
Can't do much about it unless yo ucan make the road straight and no red lights.
A vacuum manifold gauge will help, because you instantly see the effect of a heavy lead foot. ower vacuum equals decreased gas milage.
In California, we hava a new way to make gas prices go higher.
Blow up the refinery.
The refinery gets new equipment and they make more profit from higher gas prices.
Amazing how that happens

Gas Prices here in N/E Ohio are about $1.65/gal. for regular and $1.85/gal for premium. (except in my town prices are ten to 15 cents cheaper
) and I'm getting just a hair under 20mpg (around town) out of my 2.8/5spd combo. ------------------

My TBI V-8 gets 22-26mpg city driving. You guys ever tune your cars? 8-12mpg? I got that out of my highly modified GTA 350.
And no, I don't drive like grandma, I drive average.

Yeah, I pay around $1.80 for a gallon of 93-octane. I found a gas station that wanted $1.60, maybe I'll go there...
So for $10, I'd get an extra gallon, eh? Subtract that from the miles I'd drive to out of my way....... ah, screw it.

Damn I wish that I good gas mileage out of my 2.8L. I always keep on top of maintenance on my Firebird & no matter what I get 15mpg in town. But on the highway I get about 24mpg.
I find this funny but my mom's K5 Blazer gets better gas mileage & she has the same stuff done to her vehicle like the chip, thermo, Flows, etc. I can't wait till I can get a truck.

I have yet to put the chip back in my car. I took it out when I thought I was selling it. Am I putting it back in??? Noooo...87 is fine with me, thank you!! I took the coil out too originally...that will go back in. It does feel slower at higher RPM's, but that could be as much to do with the coil as it does the lack of the chip. I can't really spin my RR anymore either...but that has more to do with brand new Firehawk GTA's
As for mileage, I normally get about 21-22 combined with the RS. My first 3 tanks with the Z have averaged out to 18.5, with slightly more city driving.
Mulot30th,
From one anniversary driver to another, it isn't hard to see why the 4th gen V8s get as good as, or better, mileage. Technology has come a LONG way since the 2.8 MPFI's debuted in '85. Your LS1 is rated 18/27, my LT1 16/27. To compare, my 2.8 A4 RS is 19/27, and you have to rev it to 3k to get solid acceleration. My LT1 cruises around town around 2k or less when shifting!!
