yes you can convert to carb as long as the big mean emissions man does not come calling. If you have a high pressure fuel system the buy a log type fuel pressure regulator and you already have the fuel return line to splice into. Otrher than that you have to buy the intake and carb...If you do convert to carb you may as well take out the electronics and computer. You do have the HEI distrib right?...

IF YOU REALLY MUST,
go get one from an S-10 Blazer or another F-Body.
OR pay Edelbrock for his 2 piece intake, but, you'll need a carb.
With this intake you can get a 4 bbl.
It would be MORE cost effective to contiue with the V-8 Swap.
Where is all the MPFI stuff?

Well i already pulled the computer and wiring harness off of it. I am supposed to be getting a 350 eventually and already have a th400 tranny in the basement waiting. Just dont know if that stuff will go in the 85 or a 1st or 2nd gen.

What year 6cyl stangs are they? I guarantee that they will spank you if they are 93-up 6cyl's, especially if you have no other mods to your engine. And that means double if you go with a stock carberator setup.

I had a computer controlled Carb on my 6cyl bird and I went to non-cc because my carb went bad and was too expensive to replace. So I bought an '82 carb off of an S-10 and replaced the distributor with one from another 82 S-10 and it runs good, other than that annoying check engine light all the time.

This is from the 1999 Edelbrock catalog:
For a 4 barrel set up you will need the base (manifold) part number 3785 the top (non EGR) part number 3789. They recommend Holley Carburetor #0-8007 (390 CFM)
The price back in '99 was $213.95 for the base and $111.95 for the top.

i don't know how the carb will hold up against em, my 85 2.8L H/O with MPFI would run with the new stangs,93- till they changed the body style, and upped it to 190hp, but at that time, i was running on 4 cylinders too. My new motor, will run with the older 3.8L's 93-97 or so, all day, and i beat my buddy's 96 stang with a stick against my auto. the 200 shouldn't be to big of a problem, being that it's an older inline six, and might not have been upkept, but just give it a try, don't do anything to boost their ego's thouh.

Where do you find rust free cars of the first and second generations in MA?
Sell this car and buy the right car for the mission.
Out in CA, they sell for as little at $1,000 or so.
I'm NOT syaing what condition. In fact, someone once gave me a 1969 Camaro, shell.
I could made it into a Trans Am racer. Came with roof, front inner fenders, shell of body (no quarter panels or doors), no glass, no front end or subframe.
BUT it was a console car with a 12 bolt! My future father in law, saw it in his garage and flipped, so I parted it out. Yea, you know I kept the 12 bolt and sold the front inner fenders.
It happens. The car was rust free and straight.
Gotta visit out here.
