Anyone have an '85-'86 that came without A/C from factory?
I was browsing through my GM book for no particular reason, and stumbled onto the power steering pump mounting diagrams. They showed a 2.8 with (and without) air conditioning. The "with" used that combo bracket to hold both. The "without" used spacers! I removed my a/c, and always wondered if normal spacers could hold the tension of the power steering pump's belt... apparently they can. I was just wondering if any of you have an '85-'86 (non-serpentine belts) setup without a/c and could tell me how cleanly the power steering pump was mounted. Looks like I'd just use lengths of steel tube to stand the p/s pump off the engine.. the tube lengths would be the same as the depth of the combo a/c+p/s bracket. It'll definately clean up my engine bay... which has always looked like "something's missing"!

IF YA CAN FIND THIS, Fords have lots of spacers like that.
So do old Chevies.
Usually around the alternator.
Especially after the 1969 model year (alternator over on passenger side)
Hope that gives ya astart.
You can alwys try the dealer to print out a page for the item you're after.

I stacked washers to make a spacer on my bracket on the 355.

I imagine though that the dealer would show me the same page I'm after... hm, maybe I should check that 82-92 Firebird Microfiche set I bought...

I found the stuff on eBay! I don't have the reader; I hear those are cheap from eBay also... that'd be a cool addition to the garage. Don't know where I'd put the damn thing, but...
I haven't looked at them yet to see what they're about (no time to myself anymore).
