any ideas anyone?

I've got a stock 89 2.8l and on Thursday night i started to here a rattle from my exausht. and shortly after I start to feel a lose of power. I'm thinking it has to do with my cat. has anyone expirenced this before or have any ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated

it may be the cat. best thing to do is get the car off the ground(ie jacks, ramps) and start it up and see where the rattling is coming from. But in most cases exhaust rattle is a loose heat shield around the converter mostly.

I could be wrong but I am almost positive there was a recall on my 86 SC for excessive CAT noise, it would rattle, and it does sounds like a knocking actually. It never hurt anything it's just annoying.

Cool! Hey I was checking out the 'ol JC Whitney catalog a few nights ago, and saw an exhaust backpressure gauge. It went into the spot for your oxygen sensor... would this be the "technical" way to determine a clogged cat??
