v6 power loss

I have a 1988 firebird with 2.8 in it. Recently I noticed a big loss of acceleration from it. It has been cheked by mechanics and nothing has been found wrong with it. Starts right up every time, runs up to 80 mph just fine, just seems to take a while to get there. I'm thinking it might be a problem with the turbo. This problem is making me think about dropping a v8 in, but if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks

Whoa,
You have a turbo on your V6? Who makes it? The power loss could be a number of things. Might be running lean, may have fouled out a plug, may have a vacuum leak. I wouldn't start with the turbo. If you really have one, do you have a boost gauge? What precautions do you take to care for the turbo?

I See your new here too. well for you post, it sounds my car was like yours in right now, it does the speed limit like after 10s from what it used to do. Mine was the simple fact that the cat was plug. Replaced it did a tune up and its running good again. this may or may not be your problem. but let me know what it is when you find out.

mmm, aftermaket turbo v6 sweet ride- got any pics?

akatrans, if you can actually supply proof of that 2.8 turbo (pictures, receipt, price, etc), you'll be the FIRST to "officially" have a 2.8 turbo'd f-body. Basically, you'll make history.

If not, well...

Or maybe he stumbled onto a Turbo Trans Am that the previous owner didn't know what he had and sold it as a 88 2.8 Turbo when in all actuality its a 3.8 Turbo 89. Do you have radio contorlls on your steering wheel? No other V6 ever came with those.

89 Trans Am Turbo 3.8L All stock 43,000 miles #1053 of 1555

Past Thirdgen:
86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!

Woah, woah If you are serious, and you have a TTA drivetrain, then I'm sure someone here will gladly purchase the entire drivetrain from you.

PSSS....Monkie, send me that list of parts I need for the conversion.
