anyone with a crane compucam camshaft...
how much of a difference will i notice if i get this cam, lifters, some 1.6 rockers and a new timing chain? i think i can pick up all of this for around 300.00. but dont know how much to install it so any help would be great. i would hope to pick up at least 20 -25 hp with all of this.

The Haynes 82-92 manual will tell you how to install a camshaft & timing chain. I don't think you'd need 1.6 rockers due to the increased lift of the compucam. Depending on how many miles are on your engine, you might get 20-25 hp out of the deal- the more miles, the more worn-down the stock camshaft lobes are... and that means less power to your engine. Over stock HP you might see 10-15 HP, but over your engine's current (mileage-affected) HP, you might get that 20-25. I doubt my 214,880 mile 2.8 has 135 HP anymore!
My guesses are that if you keep the stock cam, 1.6 rockers are the way to go. If you get the hi-po cam, 1.52 rockers are the ticket. Any other ideas on this? I know Brian K has some experience with this, he'd know better than I would!
