NEED a Wrecking yard tranny & radiator!

Who has tips what to look for in a 2.8 700R4 tranny!!
I'll list mine.
T-boned car
Rear ended car
Shiny Tranny case.
I need one for my S-10 Blazer. The current one is shot & too expensive to rebuild.

Radiator
I was told only 1985-1989 V-6.
I know, shiny helps, too!
NO cracks of any type on the "plastic fins" (side pod housings).

Cant help on the tranny dude, but if the neck of the radiator has any sign of this rusty colored powder or hard residue of this stuff it usually means it has been overheated on several occasions and might be clogged with this stuff inside.

Happened to me once, I was driving this 80's caprice and the cooling fan gave up, the water boiled and I could see steam rising from under the hood. I got the fan replaced the next day and, to my surprise it was still getting overheated. They had to drain the radiator and did I dont know what to get it flowing again, afterwards the mechanic gave me the tip on the rusty colored powder. And I had noticed it when I was refilling the radiator after replacing the fan.

Go for as new of a 700r4 as you can find. GM improved the thing as they went.

83-84 = First & Worst attempt
85-86 = A bit better than the first attemp
1987 = Most improvements, try not to go "earlier" than this year!
1989-93 = More improvements done

Are you looking for an f-body radiator? 82-84 V6 guys (even WITH air conditioning!) got a smaller radiator than '85-up MPFI. You might also want to check the condition of the "sludge" inside the radiator. My '84 parts car had mud as coolant... deep brown & sludgy, yuck.

I have a radiator out of my 87 v6 firebird. Now has a crate 350 in it so i really have no use for it. If you'd like it email me at ericformula350@aol.com.

I have both the tranny (5 speed) and radiator. I'll give you a package deal: $350 for both.

Anyone else notice when this thread started?
BACK IN MAY OF 2001!
YET
IF it helped SOMEONE GET A NECESSARY 5-SPEED!
WAY COOL!
No need for the radiator, I scored one in yards ages ago.
The tranny is a fresh strong rebuild behind the 3.4 This drivetrain combo hums now.
Hope the sig is updated in this response
