a turbo..YES IT CAN BE DONE!

THERE IS HOPE!
Yea a turbo can be put on anything.
Not to be an A** or anything are you sure the guy wasent confusing a "turbo muffler" with a "turbo charger"? I would love to see the turbo charger setup, if you can take a pic.

A turbo is like a supercharger, they can be put on anything, the only problem is the plumbing to run them, brackets, and so forth. There is a lot of work in making a custom forced induction system, but lets talk about this turbo. First off custom headers and exhaust sustem has to be fabed that fits in the engine compartment area. Then you have to plum oil lines to the turbo for lubrication and some way to pump the oli there. Then the custom air tube routing.
Another concern is fueling, you have to get a fuel pump capable of pumping enough fuel to support the added airflow and a fuel pressure regulator that increases flow per pound of boost. Then o lord lets not even get started on the computer working with this, can you say a complete custom reprogramming. That is why systems cost some much when you buy them as a complete kit.
As mush as I hate to say it, but not may people are going to even think of spendin that much money on a v6 camaro when they can build a v8 wayyyyyyy cheaper than all of that mess. Though if this guy has got one he has definately got a one of a kind car.
I doubt it really has a Turbo though, unless its a TTA and the guy just doesn't know what hes got.

86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!

I knew the GP's did, but I never heard of a Cav with one, though since they are both FWD the installation or swapping from one car to the other ought to be pretty easy, but that set up will not work on the camaro because the exhaust and other things a routed to fit on a FWD platform.

I work at a place where turbos are just sitting around unguarded!
Actually I was talking with one of the Holset Turbo guys and he said that some of thier larger turbos produce over 70psi of boost! 70psi, imagine what you have to do to an engine to prep it for that kind of boost. Imagine how it would fly if you did?!?!

Not the Cavaliers,
It's the Pontiac Subird Gt Turbo
Same car, different name.
Am I incorrect, tho?
I really do not recall, a Cavalier having a turbo.
Chevy did VERY FEW turbos.
Only one in mind was the Monte Carlo V-8 Turbo set up. Was not a big seller, to many QC problems, as Kyle pointed out.
GMC had the turbos on the Scyclone & Typhoon (YES! love those things!! AWD & 4.3 w/intercooled turbos. Watch out Corvettes!).
We all know about the Buick & that one engine being under Kyles hood, too.
