considering 3.4 swap
if i put in a 3.4 long block and reuse my current injection system can i keep my computer???
also can i put 4 bolt mains on a v-6??
cuz i am also considering a lite shot of nitro
its probably just cheaper for me to rebuild my 3.1 with a cam, rockers, (if possible) 4 bolt mains, forged pistons
how much HP do YOU's think the cam/rocker combo will give me??
also, if i get nitro how much is safe with a quality rebuild???

You only need get a used running 3.4 block. Swap all current intake stuff & your computer will work fine.
I know I did this.
AKA Mr.Freight Train.
Oh, add nitrous later on after you are done having fun
NO need for a four bolt main stuff.
Use the 125 hp level.

Let me be real honest here.
For all this talk I keep seeing,
the 3.4 is the top of the line.
It runs so well as is
Honest
I paid $800 for my motor
I sold the left over stuff for $105
It runs so great as is.
IF I want more, I get into a V-8 car of mine Liek my 1974 Corvette.
IF ya wanna play with teh cam & allthat stuff, do so.
I think after slipping in a great running 40K engine that gets almost constantly 20 inches of vacuum (It seals great) & I get great milage, why **** with success?
I'm ver pleased.
The as is 3.4 package is the top of the line.
Expanding upon it, is unnecessary.
IF ya wanna play, go add nitros, NOW THAT'S MONEY WELL SPENT!!
If ya wanna waste your time & money on little this & that, start with an inferior engine (the 2.8/3.1) & rebuild it, to add the cam stuff.
The GM book only goes up to the 3.4, as the top of the line.
IF you're really interested,
DO A SEARCH on "2.8 - 3.4 swap boogie"
You will find 99% of your needed answers.
BUT it's won't make as much sense as just having both engines out side by side and having fun!
Ask anyone else whom I have coached on this swap.
Spend the time on reading that thread an getting the pieces together.
So worth it!
