Fuel Pump

How did you guys change your fuel pump. I heard you could lift the carpet and cut a little window out of the floor board and lift the pump out from there. If this is true how do you pull the pump out? Cause I know the lines twist a little in the tank?

well the best thing for the forst time is to do the time consuming task of dropping the tank. After you get it out pull the carpet back and make a line where you saw the fuel pump lined up under the car. cut it out. but remember to get a rubber or plastic body plug to fill it in when not in use. You can even get a double channel rubber gasket and use the same piece you cut out, just trimming it a little more. Just remember to tack weld a piece of metal to use as a handle so you can pull it out again.

I dropped the exhaust and axle, then the gas tank.

You may have to reach and try to release the brace tretaining bars. Mine had a few of those cheap bendable things. after I streached them out it came out fine...Also when you get it all apart install a longer peice of fuel line so it will be more flexable and be able to move around alot more.

Done, cut the lines and patched it back with MPFI high pressure fuel line. Takes 10minutes to get it back out of the car. We did for ****s and giggles.
