Depends on where the vacuum leak is. How do you know you have a leak?

When i did my 2.8->3.4 swap, i spent awhole day n vacuum hoses.
I had to replace one "T" section (and lots lots lots of rubber hoses.
I ended up using 5/16" windshield wiper hose.
One hose, the one at the back of the engine by distb, base, I ended up using a 1/2" with LOTS of electrical tape, to take up slack/sapce.
That said, I have no leaks, all connections right and tight and I have very high solid vacuum readings.
I got everythign from a local auto parts store.
IT was just VERY time consuming.
Everytime I touched a plastic piece, it cracked.
The stuff is very fragile.
NOW, I am finishing off my 1985 S-10 Blazer 2.8 engine. FOR THAT PROJECT, I have removed every hose I can.
I just passed smog, so I have 1 1/2 years to reattach every hose, etc.
AND I WILL.
But, I need to get it running and I removed ALOT & PLUGGED UP alot.
For these fuelie cars, it's mandatory to make every vacuum hose correct and proper routing for peak efficency & max operation & best gas milage.
In other words, take the time, do it right. Myy truck engine, I can cheat.
New tech, verses old tech. My truck is carb'd.

well the vacuum leak is the last resort...the car runs fine for a few minutes then it is about to stall when i'm stopped not in park when i'm in gear..so the vacuum leak is the only thing that i haven't checked or replaced....

so many people have had this problem and there's so many different answers as to what it could be, i personally found out that it wasnt vacuume...vacume...vacuum..baaah, anyways my problem was with the knock sensor(ESC) i just unplugged it and know she runs fine and doesnt die anymore, i dont know of any long term effects this might have but none have surfaced yet *knock on wood*
