Engine: 2.8 V6
Transmission: 700R4
10-bolt (count the bolts around the rear axle's cover), 7 1/2" ring gear. You can use a ring/pinion set meant for a 7 5/8" gear; they're considered close enough to be the "same".

The rear axle used in these cars is identical rear gear/axle to the S-10 Blazers.
Obvious is the leaf & coil difference.
This axle started its life under the Vega of 1970 to the end of that production run (in reality, the pumpkin section).
I was surprised to read that once, too.
If ya wanna step up to a 12 bolt axle, I've got one, close by ya, in fact.
