new tach
i just got a tach for free today. i helped some guy clean out his workshop and he had a VW dune buggy in the works, with an extra tach so he gave it to me. i don't know how old it is, but it's a tach. my question is, it just has the two posts on the back, and it says it is for battery ignition, so would it work with our ignition? (i have a 87 2.8 if it matters) and if so, how would i go about hooking it up?

it's a Faria electric tachometer. that's all i know, i couldn't find a model number anywhere. the instructions in the box say to connect it to the wire that goes from the ignition switch to the coil. i looked at my coil, and there are two wires going into it, and one of them comes out of the sheath and has a grey connector on it. is this where i would connect it? any and all help would be apreciated, as this is my first time hooking up anything like this
