Engine skips at low rpm
I've done some searching, and I couldn't really find any answers that would help me. I'm not sure how to describe this other than when I start from a stop and apply the throttle lightly (enough to get the car going) its like the throttle isn't doing anything and sometimes it does. I don't get it, it'll just skip almost.
We changed the oil and the oil filter and now the car does this. The first time we started the car it kept trying to stall, until I applied a little throttle, and even then the rev lasted longer than it usually did, like I lifted off the throttle slowly, but I didn't (I've never changed the oil in a car, but my dad and grandpa have, MANY times before, and my grandpa thinks it might be the injectors, and my dad thinks it might be the vaccum or something), and this never happened before we changed the oil, I could apply light throttle and the car would go and there were no skips and would do what it should. We don't have the windshield washer fluid container hooked up because it was cracked and leaking fluid, I doubt that has anything to do with this, but just thought I'd put that out there. If its just a changed oil thing (mind you, the car has 244,772 miles on it, maybe something of importance) and it might go away then that'd be fine, but, it makes no sense to me, it didn't do it before we changed the oil, but it does it now, and we got the right oil type for it, so I'm a little confused
I also have a couple other problems, my horn isn't working, I can hear a clicking noice when I push the two contacts down (I don't have my airbag hooked up just yet), so I'm wondering what the problem is with that.
and lastly, the engine maintenance light comes on when I start the car, but goes off when I go into reverse, and comes back on when I put it in drive, but goes off again whenever I get over 30mph, or 3000 rpm, I'm still not completely sure on this one, but I did notice it turning off around those numbers, not sure if its a big deal or not.
Any help (mostly the throttle thing) would be greatly appreciated, I got to get this thing to daily driver status by the 22nd of this month, gotta drive something to college you know? I'd rather it not be my dads gas guzzling f-150, lol

You might want to have the codes read, Autozone can scan newer cars, but I don't know about older GMs. Or you can do the paperclip trick & watch the flashes of the check engine light. Google 'paperclip to read GM error codes'.
It could be a bad throttle postion sensor, make sure its plugged in good. As these cars age, the wiring connectors become brittle & loose the retaining clips that help keep the connector tight to the sensor.
See if you can rent a fuel pressure test gauge from autozone, the test port is near the distributor cap. Engine running psi 36psi or higher. Key on engine off it should be 42psi or so & hold pressure for awhile.
Try to get those codes & get back to us.

Re: Engine skips at low rpm
well we took it to get smogged, it didn't pass, the engine maintenece light being on was one reason (wish i would of fixed that first, lol) and it produced to much emissions i guess, so we'll have to take it to a smog fix place to fix what's wrong with it, and it still does the throttle blip/skip stuff when i start from a stop or apply light throttle.
at the back of the manifold, is there supoosed to be some sort of line/small tube attached? because there wasn't and my grandpa made a little one with an end to fix it for the time being. is there supposed to be something on there? if so, can someone tell me what.

Re: Engine skips at low rpm
Intake or exhaust manifold? There should be 3 vacume tubes coming off the plenum, brake booster, main vacume (for the carcoal canister, stc) and one for the map I believe. Exhaust manifold should have a tube leading up the the EGR. Pictures of what you're talking about would be helpful.
As far as the other stuff goes, have you done the major tune-up on this car since owning it? If not I bet that would fix your problem. Mine use to buck when the engine was loaded up under low RPM's untill I got some decent plugs and wires for it.

Sorry about the long reply, it was the intake manifold I think, the little tube on the back of the intake manifold wasn't attached, so, we put it on, and the low rpm skips stopped and its been running fine since.
No, as far as I know, everything is original, but we did replace all the spark plugs and spark plug wires.
