B&M mega shifter question????
When they discribe this shifter they use the term ratcheting Whadda they mean/???
"Full Ratchet Action!
MegaShifter has that popular 4-speed look with full ratchet action. This shifter is equipped with B&M's precision mechanism that has earned a reputation as the best in the business. Designed so that you can ratchet to all gear positions if desired, or use the trigger activated reverse lock-out to reach the park position. Polished, lighted and complete."

What that means is to engage drive,2nd and 1st from OD,you have to pull back release, the shifter for each gear.
Say your in first with the throttle to the floor. You can slap the shifter as hard as you want from 1st to 2nd and it won't go past 2nd.
You can do that all the way to OD.but you can also push it into N from OD with out lifting the lever.
I've had mine for 3 years now.I've not had any problems with the shifter itself. Now the boot is a diff story.

Think of a ratcheting action of a wrench.
ALSO go to the tranny section. They have SO MANY ANSWERS specifically over there. They definetly know the score!!

Also, you know how your stock shifter changes position, depending on what gear you're in? The B&M Megashifter, when in "ratchet" mode, will point straight up. It's position doesn't change. Like Kevin said, to shift up, you smack the stick forward. When the stick goes forward, it moves to a higher gear, and then it springs backward to the "straight up" position. Same for downshifting... you yank the stick back, and let go; it downshifts, and then springs back to the "upright" position.
The only time the stick changes position is when you go into "reverse" or "park". Like Karl, I installed mine back in '97, and have had no problems... altho I am on my second boot. (Don't armor-all the boot; it'll crack!)
