should I buy this 89 GTA?

I talked the guy down to 6500, it only has 60k on it , the interior and exterior is almost in mint condition. Should I buy it? Does 6500 sound about right?

$6,500 sounds kinda steap...but It would help if you would have listed a little bit more about the car..or posted a pic. What engine does it have in it? And is there any significant mods?

Anyways, good luck...After all, the final decision comes down 2 you.

the nice cars here in ST. Louis hold their value decently, my friend paid 7500 for a 1990 T/A several years back. The car had the tuned port 305 in it, so, if this car has a 350 TPI, and is near mint, then it's probably worth it. Also, my friends T/A had a dent in the front right fender, so it wasn't a perfect body. plus a lot of touch up paint, but it was still holding the value.

I got my 89 Formula 350 for 4750 CDN, so that's about 3100 USD. It had been in one accident though.

If it's got the 350 *with dual cats*, and all the options, and you've done the inspection already and it checks out, then it would be an OK deal. It wouldn't be a steal though.

Remember that thirdgens are *everywhere*. You will be able to find the one you want, at a good price if you look hard enough.

3.1 Firebird,

If this is a t-topped 350 with leather (or even without), please give me a call...it isn't worth 6500 to you but it sure as hell is to me

Yes for a GTA in mint condition with a 350 T-tops and leather is worth $6500 and the value will never go down as long as you keep it like a classic. YOu wont be able to drive it all the time, but there are fewer of them than any other thirdgen and they have everything you could ever think of getting on a Thirdgen.
I would like to have it but Im not ridding myself of my 89 GTA.

Hell yes, that is a good price hopefully the car is stored in the winter if it is not you should pass. A nice GTA is hard to come buy up north.

I cant remember if it has t-tops, but it is all power and the camel colored leather interior. 350TPI power everything, the dash isnt digital though. It looks excactly like a TTA except it has the gold rims.

$6500 for an '89 GTA with 60k may be a little too much. My GTA was purchased 3 months ago for under $3000 with 90k 350/5.7, leather, no dents but without T-tops. But if the car is mint and in excellent condition per description, then why not!!!! However, '95 Z28 are going for $6500 moreless in the Chicagoland area.

The TTA gold Rims. No the 89 GTA doesnt look like a Turbo Trans Am. Differences are there are no GTA badges on the TTA, and the TTA has specific badges. Granted there are similarities, but it just the pain and interior colors.

Grames and CC are missing the entire point as to why the car is worth 6500. A 60k mile GTA in mint condition is a very nice find. And a hopped up one doesn't hold value the way an original does. This is a future classic, not a used car...

Keep the miles low and like Kyle said, it will never lose value.

I say it's a great deal. I found mine, all original, never been in an accident, and the only flaw being a tear in the leather of the drivers's seat for $6000. It had 58,000 miles at the time. I'm not trying to keep it all original (i'm going to keep it close, but with the bolt on goodies) and i'm not trying to keep the miles super low, but I am only driving it probably 6 or 7,000 miles a year tops. It may not retain its value, but it's a great car and it'll last me forever. BTW, since it is a GTA, it'll have every extra and a 9-bolt rear. You'll learn to love things like that.

I think it's a fair price if the car is real nice, clean, and original.I picked my 89 GTA up in '97 with 27K on it(has 34K now)for $5700(talked down from $6500 cause I was the first person to call about the car in almost a month of ad's)it's a red/camel leather 350 with t-tops.

Later,
Steve
