MSD ignition benefits

I want to go all out with a FULL MSD ignition system, including "RED BOX", distributor, leds, plug in harness to adapt from stock plugs, stickers of course, and I already have the bolt on stock MSD replacement coil.

Benefits in HP, smooth idle??, and what else??

Any other opinions please??

You'll get some improvements in gas mileage, my uncle installed on in his vette, he got maybe 2-3 MPG more. Maybe a v6 would get more.

Pioneer DEH-11
Targa E-910 7-Band Equalizer w/ crossover
2x 10" Pioneer subs powered by 300 Watt Jensen amp
2- 6x9" Pioneer (rear)
More to come..... (hey, i dont got a job yet)

Also with improved gas milage, you will get better throttle responce. You can open you gap up on your spark plug and get a little more HP out of it. On the grand schem of things maybe only like 5hp for a total system. Though it will improve as you do other mods as well.
Yes you will get a smoother idle, but your car will be smoother all around.
BAsically its a good mod, especialy with a 6A box. Though you will never truely know how much its helping till you do a lot of mods then disconnect it.
Where the MSD boxs really shine is on high compression engines, such as race engines and Forced induction cars. This is because a cylinder pressure goes up you need more power to jump the gap reliably. This is where the extra power from the MSD really comes in. Plus it provides a more accurat spark. I could go on for hours. Basically Get it, it can never hurt and will always help no matter how far into mods you go.

What sucks is, MSD doesn't make a distributor for our cars. They don't even make a spark module! (Holley does, 891-103.)

I noticed a bit more high-rpm power. The car also takes a bit longer to start; it used to start with a 1/2 second crank time, now it's closer to a second. Go figure! The MSD box is supposed to make your engine start sooner.

I haven't experimented at all with my MSD 6AL box and plug gap yet. When I just had the Accel Supercoil, it seemed that upping the spark plug gap to 0.050" helped a bit. Oh- now, my setup consists of the MSD 6Al box, with the Blaster SS coil, plug-in harness, and SuperConductor 8.5mm wires. I mounted the 6AL on a bracket where my coolant bottle used to be.

At idle thats my problem, thats the only thing I hate, I want the hotter spark so she won't miss when she leans out the fuel at idle.

I have that MSD coil that fits in the place of the stock GM coil, didn't help me, thats why I'm going all out with the MSD box, LET ME KNOW how you come out.

I REALLY WANT to know if it makes the idle with NO misses.

With my accel setup the car seemed to start faster and rev quicker. HP gains I doubt anything over 1HP if that and it seems my mileage has gone up 10-15 miles per tank....
