EGR "UNBLOCKED" Now Less Acceleration?
92 Camaro RS 3.1L V6
Ok so I have searched a few times for EGR posts. And i know there are guys that argue both sides of whether or not to keep the EGR. I understand the whole programming the ECU and all that.. But i dont want to remove anything. The whole car is 100% stock and i want to leave it that way...
PROBLEM: I used to get a code 32 here and there, usually after highway speeds and coming to a stop.. or so. idk.. lol
So after reading a few posts here and there i decided i would do some sensor cleaning maintenance on the car since it had sat for about 10 years before i got ahold of it.. So i pulled the EGR to clean it all. And found out that someone put the normal EGR gasket PLUS the adapter gasket (one on-top of another) between the EGR and the manifold.
(Which i believe basically makes a crappy block off plate bc it doesnt let exahust into the EGR valve bc the second gasket doesnt have a hole in it..)
I also cleaned the IAC. And pulled the fuse thats on the passenger fender that had the red and orange wires going to it. ( to reset the ECM )
Now here i am and the car has a noticeable loss of power when accelerating. Is it something i did? I have no codes... Any ideas are welcome.

Re: EGR "UNBLOCKED" Now Less Acceleration?
The EGR is solenoid operated. Block it off again and see if you get your performance back. If you do then it's the egr if not it's something else. BTW it's easier to block it off at the plenum. Make a small metal plate the same shape as the gasket and use two gaskets one on each side of the metal place. This flashing works. I recently unblocked mine to get it smogged and at an auto-x weekend noticed no decrease in performance so, if it's working correctly, neither should you.

Well it was throwing the code so thats why i unblocked it... i want everything running and setup like its originaly made to be... I understand what ur saying about blocking it again Base91. My curious question is... do these egr valves get dirty from the exhuast soot and stuff? like the 3 lil plunger solenoid stopper thingys... Bc when i took this all off they were like super clean... almost as if it was a brand new EGR valve and they just put that extra gasket on so it really "never worked or saw exhaust". I will try and make a splate for it this weekend and see... but i really would like it just hooked up stock wise...

Yes the solenoid operated valves will get sooted up but as yours was blocked off from the exhaust it stayed clean. As for affecting acceleration the egr should not operate under acceleration. It typically operates mostly when decelerating from a higher speed cruise. But step one is to eliminate it or pinpoint it as the source of the problem.

{EGR block off removed}... Now here i am and the car has a noticeable loss of power when accelerating. Is it something i did? I have no codes... Any ideas are welcome.

With resetting of the ECM may need to do an idle learn. This is if the trans is an automatic. Do a search here for idle learn with my username in the author entry.
