Well, the 350 swap details are complete!!! IROC RS????
I was talking to my uncle today when I picked the RS up, and I got talking to him about doing a V8 swap on the car...he said he would do it, and he's the first mechanic I have seen willing to tackle the job!!! So tell me what you think about what I have in mind....
Engine:
-Rebuilt Goodrwench L98 350 long block, remove heads and port and polish
-350 TPI setup, new ADS injectors, Painless wiring harness, high-flow MAF, air foil, homeade ram-air, FastChip PROM
-MSD distributor, 8.5 wires, RapidFire plugs
Transmission:
-My buddy has an '88 Suburban 700R4 all ready to go...will add a shift kit
Exhaust:
-SLP 1 and 3/4" stainless headers
-SLP Y-pipe
-Some sort of dual cat setup
-SLP 3" Stainless exhaust
Suspension:
-Bilstein shocks/struts
-IROC sway bars
-V8 Sport Coupe springs (keep the ride smooth)
-IROC wheels with 245/50/16 Firehawk SZ50s (one of the last things to happen)
Exterior:
-Repainted Medium Grey Metallic (this will definitely come last, as my paint is very good), 5.7 TPI logos where the IROCs had them...stock hood and grille though.
And finally, what do you think of this?? I want to put airbrushed silver IROC logos on the doors, but not like you think...same font and everything, but instead of IROC-Z, how about IROC-RS??? I kinda like it...keeps the RS heritage alive while letting people know it isn't an ordinary RS...oh yeah, matching "IROC RS" license plates...
So what do you guys think??? Cheesy or no??

Ok, 2 votes yes, 1 no...keep them coming. This is the ONE issue on my project I am not sure of, so I appreciate both arguments. I don't expect everyone to like it...just wondering how the majority feels.
Keep 'em coming...

I thought about droping a 350, and I did a little internet search, and then I found this.

And right away I knew it would be mine.

I thought this would be cool. (my friend wanted to do this)
Instead of doing the IROC-RS just do a big RS on the door, like the Lamborghini Diablos have. The SV ones.

Well, the more I think about it, while this would be really cool, its also gonna be really expensive. Read the other post I have about the '91 Bird...
just my opinion
go with the 350, thats a great idea
(i'm plannin a Rat Motor 427)
but leave it as it is...
don't try to make it more than it is... leave it an RS on the outside... you don't have anything to prove, and if someone wants something proven, well the 350 will prove all that needs provin...
give em HELL buddy

My first reaction was "IROC-RS??? What moron would do that?". However, I must say, the idea is growing on me. Go for it, but don't over emphesise the RS. Good luck with the swap.

I'd go for RS/Z-28 myself, but that's just my personal take on the more accurate retro naming... IROC-RS isn't bad =P
On the transmission, make sure the servo is at least the stock camaro servo, if not the vette servo. There were 3 servo sizes I know of on the 700r4, suburban probably has the heavy duty slow-apply type.
------------------
'88 Camaro, dark forest green metallic, T-top
LO3 305 TBI/700r4
Performance mods: None yet
Audio mods: swapping system from v6 and building new fiberglass box
'86 Camaro SC, black /w silver racing stripes
2.8l MPFI/700r4 /w special 2nd gear delete option
Misc Mods: Cut air box, '83 Firebird spoiler.
Performance Parts: Accel 8mm wires, SplitFire plugs, Gabriel hijackers.
Audio Mods: Pioneer DEH-P3000, two 12" Optimus Pro Audio subs in hand-made enclosure each powered by a 260 watt Optimus amp. Working on shaving the box for weight.

I vote for keeping (or adding on) the "2.8 Multiport Injected" badge on the back bumper, and removing all other emblems

Hehe Tom....'88-'92 Camaro Sport Coupes and RS's don't have the silver "2.8 Multi-Port F.I." sticker on the back bumper...I have however thought about adding it as a joke after the 350 swap is complete
I think a "5.7 Tuned Port Injection" logo will be more appropriate though
And BTW, after much debating I have decided to hold onto the car and not get the '91 Firebird, even though I haven't seen it yet. I saw 2 '91-'92 White Firebirds today on the way up from CT, and they really did nothing for me
So even though the IROC-RS debate is still raging, the 350 swap is getting set

forgot to add . However my "88 rs " is rare .chevrolet only made a limited number of rs's in 87 and 88 . All the others were just sport coupes or had badging that said CAMARO and had a differet spoiler than me and I think the gfx were a little different .Whats funny about my car is the front license plate bracket says "Z28" at the top of it
...So I guess when I had the "2.8 multiport fuelinjection" sticker on the back and they saw the front .They were confused
