can i replace a 115mph guage with a different one, such as a 145mph and not have to replace something else?

You have an "electric speedo" set up.
I have a mechancial one.
I'm gonna swap in a 120MPH speedo unit (from a 1968 Camaro), behind the face and test what happens.
In your case, it may not be that easy. Unless you score the later model gauge package and just swap parts.
I had to do that, to make my "6" cylinder tach read correct, for the dash I have for my 1985 Firebird.
