thanks allot i will try that
amother question though, yeasterday when i was at a stop light and put it into first it started moving and then bang it jumped right out,
now im not sure if i put it in all the way (driving stick for only 2 month), or either my transmission is toast , it never popped out before.
if its a transmission problem, is it fixable?
thnx again

Yep that is pretty normal, just the syncromesh for reverse has worn out... nothing to worry about, its when you get grinding in the forward mothing you have to worry.
Dads old S-15 use to grind like crazy to get it in reverse, but if you just do what the other guys say, putin 1st then 2nd, then go to reverse it will still work fine. No worrys your tranny is still with you.

I started driving in 1972.
The car I learned to "Stick shift" drive was the 1966 I got from my Dad as my High School car.
(It only cost, in 1972 dollars, $1,750. Yes, that little. ALL CARS BCK THEN, DID COST VERY LITTLE!)
That M-20 4-speed tranny also grinded, going into reverse. ALL GM do this.
Way to do this trick is, push in clutch, pull shifter into second, up, then left to reverse. You will not grind gears, as you have spun synchros within the tranny, by doing that action.
If you "inch ahead" pushing in clutch and in first at a light, you are having some clutch problems.
Need to have clutch adjusted or checked out, as it may be worn down, in need of replacing the clutch.
