whew! I lucked out
I've been throwing the dreaded code 32 even since I put my car back on the road after the restoration. I figured either my EGR went bad, or I knocked a vacuum hose lose when I changed the coil, plugs and wires.
so tonight I checked all the hoses... they sure did look like everything was in place. So I tried to loosen the EGR before I ran out and bought another one. Couldn't get the dang bolts loose... too rusty.
So I turned my focus back to the vacuum lines, and the rubber patches I had make with vacuum hose to bridge the areas where the plastic hoses broke a long time ago. some of them seemed loose, so I started to remove them one at a time to wrap the ends of the plastic tubes with electrical tape to make a snug fit when everything was put back together. Well putting it back together, I noticed that one of the tips of my vacuum solenoid was CRACKED. I cussed to myself because I know how expensive these things are (almost $150) but then I remembered that I bought a junk 2.8 almost two years ago to pull the plenum and few other things off of it. I went to my storage building to dig through my boxes of parts I pulled off it, and sure enough, I found a vacuum solenoid and some tubing in really nice shape. I was so happy, that junky engine has bailed my out of so many jams in the last two years!
so 20 minutes later, I had the solenoid on, and all the hoses in place. I'm not sure if the crack was there before, and that was causing the problem, or messing with it tonight caused the crack, but at least I'm not any worse off than I was earlier today.
I think my wife thought I was nuts for buying a bad v6 (I think I paid $50 for it) but I'm SO glad I did.

That is so great Mark, Always nice to stumble across the problem without driving your self crazy chasing it. Good job

well I'm not sure I actually fixed the EGR problem. I'll know more by the end of the day after I drive about 100 miles. Crossing my fingers

drove it at least 100 miles today, mostly on the highway, and didn't throw a code. I think it's fixed!
