Need you help/opinion
I am thinking about buying myself a 1988 Firebird for a project car, I came across it in a local classifieds ad for 400obo now i am going to offer him 150 since i went to go look at it today and the engine looks really worn out, the overflow tank had no coolant in it, the The oil was pure black and looked like it has been cooked, I had to really fight with the ignition to make it turn to were I could start the car, I didn't end up starting it because the condition of the motor, the body will need some work also, a few dents, rust and the guy sprayed it flat black but did a really fast job. Also the Brake Pedal falls to the floor and the last time the car has been started was 5 years ago and now the guy just wants it gone. Honestly the only real reason I want this car is I have always wanted a project car and I have always liked the Firebird also I have always wanted T Tops and my grey beast that I have now doesnt have T Tops haha.

I'd pass on that deal. From what you said, that thing sounds like a major money pit and is probably going to be more trouble than It's worth. I would buy it as a parts car, but not as the project itsself.

Re: Need you help/opinion
well i do know of a motor i can throw into the car, and the brakes is just the master cylinder gone, he also has a bunch of spare parts for the car lying around and im pretty sure the reason why the ignition wouldnt turn was because it wasn't fully in part i pulled the gear shifter down to drive then back up to park then i could turn the key easily, i am hoping if i do buy the car, i just take out all the spark plugs put 2 drips of oil in every cylinder let it sit over night top up the oil and coolant and it might just start because he told me before he parked the car he put a new motor out of a camaro into the car and the motor has about 156,000 on it. The interior is in decent shape I can just put seat covers over the seat, and the body is no major problem since I have a friend that does autobody and will help me out for free, if it is a huge money pit, hey it was only $150 so nothing ventured, nothing gained.
