2.8 to 2.8 swap questions

I bought an 86 firebird with a 2.8L v6 last week and got scamed because the engine didnt knock when i got it the next day is sounds has a deep hollow knock when it hits high revs. By chance i just happen to have bought this car because my 93 s10 that ran fine has a bad cluch and transmission but also has a 2.8L v6. seriously considering pulling the engine from the S10 and putting it in the firebird because i already own both. Thoughts and suggestions?

That won't be an issue.

The only thing you will need to make sure of in that regard, is that there is a pilot bushing installed in the back of the crank to support the trans input shaft.

If you don't know what a pilot bearing is, you should probably let someone else do the swap.

You learn by reading books, articles, etc. You learn from others before you jump into something that you have no idea what you're doing.

Yes i understand that is how you learn that is y i am here asking questions, but like i said i dont have the option of taking it somewhere so i will figure it out and when you dont have someone to teach you you figure out how to do it yourself either by doing it and it working or by trial and error

Re: 2.8 to 2.8 swap questions

It should be an easy swap....

Pay close attention to EVERYTHING, and if ANYTHING is different, use the one from the F-body instead of the one from the S-10.

Depending on different years, you may want to swap exhaust manifolds, intakes, carb/throttle body from the bad motor to the good one.

When in doubt, stick to the part from the car.
