Fuel Injectors Or ECM
I have had my car for about a month now and since I bought it the engine has had some problems, The P.O told me that his mechanic said the Injectors were out for sure.
But I hear it can also be the ECM.
What it is doing: When I turn the car on and leave it in Park it will stay on fine.
As soon as I give it some gas the engine dies down, It can move but you have to constantly stay on the gas.
if i am lucky enough to get it out on the road it will run but if i "hit" it nothing what so ever happens.
I mean I know its a V6 but they have torque, buy my daily driver 4 banger feels like it does more than it right now.
That sorta leads me to believe that a couple of the injectors are indeed out.
But I am not really sure.
Can someone

me get this poor V6 back on the ROAD!?

Re: Fuel Injectors Or ECM
Have you checked out the TPS, fuel pressure ? Coolant temp sensor ?
These things can effect quite a bit and are fairly simple to verify that they are fine.

Re: Fuel Injectors Or ECM
I agree, it sounds like a sensor problem or fuel pressure. If not that, check over the ignition system. The most suspicious sensors for this I think are the TPS and the MAP. If those aren't working right the ECM can't tell how much air is being let into the engine, so it will run like crap. There should be procedures for how to check those sensors on the forum. It could also be some other sensor, but I think those are the most likely.
Bad fuel pressure would act like this also.
Maybe the PO's mechanic had it figured out, but the term "mechanic" can be used a bit loosely sometimes, so you can't be sure if he really knew what he was doing. I wouldn't jump to the injectors yet. I doubt it's the ECM.
If you pull the spark plugs, look for signs that any are running leaner than others. That would support the bad injector theory. But if one whole bank is bad, it might mean bad ECM, fuse or wiring.

Re: Fuel Injectors Or ECM
Most likely you are not getting enough fuel, or have a vacuum leak, check your fuel pressure, and check for vacuum leaks.(ie. if no fuel pressure gauge, remove cap on schrader valve with key on, and depress it with a small screwdriver, fuel should shoot out with some force(watch your eyes) if it doesn't shoot up you have no fuel pressure(and if you have a fuel pressure gauge I don't think I need to tell you how to use it, lol) Another method would be to give it some starter fluid. Have someone spray some starting fluid into the air filter while torque breaking it or vice versa, see if it still stalls. For vacuum leak, spray starter fluid around vacuum lines and see if the idle changes speed, avoid spraying directly onto the exhaust manifold.
Could also be a broken valve spring...ask me how I know =/ But the above is far more likely, my guess is fuel pump.
