which rebuild kit should i get

which rebuild kit should i get

hey guys I'm rebuilding a 3.4 for my 8 9firebird should I get a rebuild kit for the 3.4 or for the 2.8 as far as gaskets and stuff

all the gaskets will be the same except the intake maifold and head gaskets
so u could order a full set for the 2.8 to make it easy then u would only have to buy a set of 3.4 headgaskets . the 2.8 headgaskets will have to small of a bore to use on the 3.4


if u order a gasket set for the 3.4 the intake manifold gaskets wont work for the 2.8 intake so then u could just order a 2.8 intake set


see which way it is cheaper to buy and just do that

I went with 2.8 gaskets for everything but the heads. Only difference is like project89 said, head gaskets. Assuming you're using the 2.8 top end.

ya thanks guys so ill order it for the 3.4 and I only need intake gaskets the water pumps are the same on both correct I dnt have the 2.8 out I'm rebuilding the 3.4 with new everything before I put it in and find something wroung with it also is there any way I could use the 3.4 oil pan cause my 2.8 has a big dent in it thanks agian

will a 2.8 rebuild kit work on the 3.4 guys I'm buying a re-ring kit so are the rings going to be the same because the 2.8 rebuild kit is 80 cheaper thanks

no the 2.8 piston is smaller if u are getting a re-ring kit u have to get one for the 3.4
