underdrive pulleys help a tad but for the cost its up to you. If the stock alt works fine, I wouldnt bother getting a new one.

If you want to. Its all up to you. Personally, I would spend it else where as I had them at one time and saw no noticible real world gain. BTW i got the chips. Im working on them now.

Your chips are fried off and good to go. Heres a great link on how to easily put in that g1 adapter you have along with the chips.
http://support.moates.net/g1/

Open up that link and print out the pages. It make installing for a first timer a breeze.

Not to hijack, but since you know how to burn chips, do you know how to burn a chip that has all settings stock, but gets rid of the VATS? My VATS works fine now, but who knows down the road.

Re: Under drive pulleys

BTW, my old 90 Stang 5.0 had the full March UDP's on it and I hated them. The ALT did not charge much at idle and at night with all the lights on the light got very dim at idle. IMO pullys are not worth the money or time to install them, infact if I would not have sold the car I would have put a new long block 306 in it and went back to all stock pullys.

Re: Under drive pulleys

I probly could have tuned a few mpgs more at best. Its at the top of the field of thirdgens to get 35mpg's+ It would have been so much easier if you could of datalogged it so we could push it.

But for the headers..... I dont believe anyone sells headers that are cal. legal. You would have to weld up a flang of somesort to incorporate the EGR valve like fallen2603 said.

But what do you want??? More horsepower??? Your really not going to get much more mpgs.

Re: Under drive pulleys

hes right 35mpg is really pushing it theres a few tricks u can do to get a lil more out of it though.

u can lighten the axle flanges , get the lightest rim and tire combo u can , lower the car a lil to decrease drag , drive with the windows up

other then that a small turbo would help increase milage some but being in cali thats pretty much out of the question for u as its not smog legal

Re: Under drive pulleys

Over 35 MPG in a '91 Camaro is pretty damn good. Hell, my stock '06 Cobalt SS/SC gets 31 MPG on a good day with tons of highway driving.

Cut the weight where you can, or toss things out of the car that you're comfortable with tossing out. Other than that...not much else would I do.

The only thing that would be better instead of driving 65mph getting 35mpg would be driving 71mph getting the same.

And I guess I'll wait and put the 260 grind delta cam on the 3.4 block. The 3.4 should get a little better mpg 2. Not looking for HP just a good commuter

Re: Under drive pulleys

Your rear end gears are going to affect your high MPH MPG's. 2.73's would probly help but then the car would seem alot under acceleration.

Re: Under drive pulleys

2:73's will kill gas milage since he would have to step so far on the gas to get the car to move not to emention it would take more throttle to keep the car at highway speeds

The gears would help at crusing highway mpgs. Rpms would be about 500 lower. But your right it would hurt the mpgs to get up to speed and possibly hold the mph if its hilly and not flat as a board like im use to here in Ohio.

Re: Under drive pulleys

If we're still gonna talk about the original topic, I installed that U/D pulley on my crank, it didn't make any noticeable difference at all. Considering the cost, I would save the money and put it somewhere else. If you want to brag and can afford it, well then go for it.

Where else do I spend my money? Brag? Glad I didn't buy the pulleys.
Thanks for the heads up on that sir.

Re: Under drive pulleys

You can spend it on all different kinds of things; depends on what you have done already. Plug wires, 180 t-stat, CAI, and if you stick a bit more with it, the list keeps going. check out the sticky at the top for parts.
